Offer Description

Postdoctoral Research Associate in Tendon Enthesis Biology (m/f/d)

Paracelsus Medical University (PMU), Salzburg
Institute of Tendon and Bone Regeneration

Position Overview

The Traweger Lab at Paracelsus Medical University is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on an IBW/EFRE-funded research project investigating the role of matricellular proteins in tendon enthesis homeostasis and degeneration. An additional aim of the project is the development of self-organizing, enthesis-like tissue substitutes for regenerative repair strategies.
The successful candidate will work at the interface of tendon biology and tissue engineering, employing genetic mouse models and advanced experimental approaches. We are looking for a scientist with a strong interest in musculoskeletal research and a proven willingness to acquire new skills. We are looking for strong candidates with a recent PhD and the ability to work independently as well as in collaborative research efforts.

  • Proficiency in cell culture techniques, including primary cell isolation and culture
  • Proficiency with molecular biology techniques, including qRT-PCR, Western blot, immunofluorescence
  • Microscopy skills (fluorescence, confocal, live-cell imaging, quantitative image analysis)
  • Computational skills in data processing and statistical analysis; experience with sc/snRNA-seq, NGS, metabolomics, proteomics datasets (R/Python) is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated scientific communication skills, including first-authored peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; German is an advantage

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in tendon or musculoskeletal biology
  • Familiarity with ECM biology, cell–matrix interactions, and inflammatory signaling pathways
  • Experience in mechanical testing and biomaterials characterization
