Saver Plus
The Smith Family celebrate the release of the 2024 Saver Plus Impact Report
Highlights from the October 2024 report include:
- 84% of former participants are still saving more than 7 years after completing Saver Plus, including 71% still saving regularly.
- Financial wellbeing scores of participants increased from 35 out of 100 before Saver Plus to 66 out 100 following involvement in the Saver Plus program. (Compared with the average Australian financial wellbeing score of 54 out of 100.)
- 87% of former participants felt more in control of their finances.
- 92% felt more confident generally after achieving their Saver Plus goal.

What is Saver Plus?
Saver Plus is a free financial education program for people on lower incomes. Saver Plus helps people to develop life-long savings habits.
Free 10 month saving program
Learn to save regularly to develop life long savings habits
Savings matched up to $500
Receive up to $500 for education costs for you or your children
Build money management skills
Savings tips, Budgeting skills, Goal setting, Needs vs wants, Banking, Superannuation, Debt and Credit cards
Offered Australia wide
Saver Plus is delivered online. Eligible participants can complete the program from anywhere in Australia that has an internet connection.
To be eligible for Saver Plus
You must have all of the following:
- A Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card AND an eligible Centrelink payment*
- Be in school yourself OR have a child in school (can be starting school next year)
- Have regular income from work (either yourself or your partner)*
- Be 18+ years old
- Agree to join in free online financial education workshops
* Many types of income and Centrelink payments are eligible, see the Saver Plus terms and conditions for more information.
How it works
Set a savings goal
If eligible for the program, set a savings goal with your savings coach for your educational related items.
Start saving
Open an ANZ Progress Saver account and start to regularly save over 10 months.
Get educated
Join our fun, online MoneyMinded financial education workshops
Have your savings matched
Reach your savings goals and have your savings matched by ANZ up to $500 for you and your children's education expenses.

About Saver Plus
Saver Plus was developed by ANZ and social justice organisation the Brotherhood of St Laurence (BSL). It is delivered in partnership with not-for-profit organisations The Smith Family, Berry Street and BSL. ANZ and the Department of Social Services fund it.
Our learning programs
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs
Our work engages Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in learning through education, life skills and role models, promoting culturally responsive practice.
Arts programs
Providing students living with disadvantage access to arts programs to help support students'; engagement with school by increasing their creative skills, self-confidence, social networks and knowledge of post-school options.
Community programs
We partner with government, schools, families, and other service providers to improve educational outcomes for children.
Financial programs
We offer financial programs for parents facing disadvantage and an interactive high school program, building youth financial literacy, decision-making skills, and future awareness.
School transition programs
Providing help for students transition from primary to high school by enhancing their skills, knowledge, and attitude for the new learning environment.
Learning Clubs
After-school Learning Clubs give children help with literacy homework in a safe, supportive environment, encouraging children to better engage with their learning.
Learning for Life
Learning for Life is an innovative, evidence-based program that supports students throughout their education to achieve positive long-term outcomes for young people experiencing disadvantage.
