Curtin University is seeking an experienced Refrigeration Technician to join our in-house Maintenance & Operations team. This is a campus-based, permanent role offering predictable hours, job security, and the opportunity to work on well-maintained, diverse plant in a collaborative environment – all while being home every night.
About the Role
Reporting to the Service Manager - Mechanical, you will provide comprehensive refrigeration and mechanical maintenance services including preventative, breakdown and emergency works. You will play a key role in ensuring plant and equipment are maintained to statutory, safety and operational standards while delivering a high level of customer service to the University community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake statutory, preventative, breakdown and emergency maintenance of refrigeration and mechanical systems.
- Diagnose faults, repair, test and commission equipment and systems.
- Provide timely, professional customer service and clear communication to clients regarding works, timeframes and safety impacts.
- Supervise and coordinate external contractors and ensure compliance with university and legislative requirements.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and update the computerised maintenance management system.
- Provide guidance and training to apprentices.
- Work collaboratively with other trades to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Participate in an after-hours call-out roster as required.
- Certificate III in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (or equivalent post-trade qualification) with relevant experience.
- Restricted Electrical Licence and Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) accreditation.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Sound knowledge of WHS legislation and safe work practices.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals and specifications.
- Experience in a large, complex organisation such as a university, hospital or commercial facilities environment.
- Experience using computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS).
