The post will be available from 1st February 2026 to 31st January 2027.
Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Early Modern History (teaching-focused) at the University of Manchester. Candidates with interests in any area of early modern history c.1450-1750 are encouraged to apply. Candidates will also be expected to have proven expertise in material culture studies.
You must have a successful record of undergraduate teaching in the field of early modern history (a focus on material culture studies would be desirable). A strong record of academic publication in this area, commensurate to career stage, may also be an advantage.
You will contribute to a range of existing undergraduate and postgraduate courses, especially introductory first and second year modules in early modern European and global history (HIST10302 Forging a New World: Europe c.1450-1750, HIST21241 Silk Roads: Eurasian Connections from the Mongols to Manilla, 1200-1800) In addition to lectures and seminars, you may also take an active role in undergraduate and postgraduate dissertation supervisions and act as an academic advisor.
