The post will be available from 1 February 2026 to 31 January 2027.
Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Early Modern History (teaching-focused) at the University of Manchester. Candidates with interests in any area of early modern history c.1450-1750 are encouraged to apply. Candidates will also be expected to have proven expertise in material culture studies.

You will contribute to a range of existing undergraduate and postgraduate courses, especially introductory first and second year modules in early modern European and global history (HIST10302 Forging a New World: Europe c.1450-1750, HIST21241 Silk Roads: Eurasian Connections from the Mongols to Manilla, 1200-1800) In addition to lectures and seminars, you may also take an active role in undergraduate and postgraduate dissertation supervisions and act as an academic advisor.
As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. As we are committed to the principles of the Race Equality Charter Mark, we would particularly welcome applications from the black and minority ethnic (BAME) community who are currently under-represented at this level in this area.
