The UCAM-SENS unit is seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join its cutting-edge
research in electrochemical devices. This position focuses on the development of
next-generation electrochemical platforms for sensing, energy conversion, and
biomedical applications.
About UCAM-SENS
UCAM-SENS is a leading research unit dedicated to electrochemical innovation for
healthcare, environmental monitoring, and energy solutions. By integrating
electrochemistry with advanced materials and engineering, the unit delivers pioneering
solutions with real-world impact.
Led by Prof. María Cuartero (ERC Fellow) and Prof. Gaston Crespo, UCAM-SENS
fosters research excellence, education, and industry collaboration. The unit operates
within HiTech, a research incubator that promotes a multicultural and multidisciplinary
environment.
PhD Research Focus
The selected PhD student will contribute to the design, fabrication, and optimization
of electrochemical devices, exploring novel electrode materials, miniaturization
strategies, and real-time analytical capabilities for diverse applications, including
biosensing and energy storage.
Position Requirements
Required Qualifications
M.Sc. degree in Electrochemistry, Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical
Engineering, Nanotechnology, or related fields.
Proven experience in one or more of the following areas:
o Electrochemical sensors and devices
o Energy storage/conversion systems (batteries, fuel cells,
supercapacitors)
o Microfluidic and lab-on-a-chip electrochemical platforms
o Advanced electrode materials and surface modifications
o In situ and operando electrochemical characterization techniques
Fluent English proficiency (B2/C1 level or higher).
Strong experimental, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
