About the FSTM
The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.
The Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM) at the University of Luxembourg contributes multidisciplinary expertise in the fields of Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences and Medicine.
Through its dual mission of teaching and research, the FSTM seeks to generate and disseminate knowledge and train new generations of responsible citizens in order to better understand, explain and advance society and environment we live in.
Your role
The PhD project will focus on Energy Sector Coupling, a key component of the energy transition. In collaboration with an industrial partner - a major energy player in Luxembourg - you will contribute to the enhancement and implementation of a digital model representing the Luxembourgish and cross-border energy landscape.
The doctoral student will be a member of the Doctoral School for Science and Engineering in the doctoral programme in Engineering Sciences aiming to provide interdisciplinary and internationally competitive research training.
Your Responsibilities:
- Conduct research in the field of the Energy Sector Coupling as described above
- Collaborate with external industrial and academic partners
- Disseminate research findings through publications and conference presentations
- Contribute to teaching activities (1-2 course hours per week or equivalent through student supervision)

Your profile
- A Master's degree in Engineering (Energy, Mechanical, Electrical or a related field)
- Solid background in the energy domain, ideally with experience in various energy forms (electrical, thermal, etc.)
- Interest and skills in numerical modelling
- Fluency in English is required. Good knowledge of German or French is a strong asset
