Outline

Science Merit Scholarships aim to encourage and assist students commencing undergraduate studies in the Faculty of Science at UNSW.

By applying for the Science Merit Scholarships you may be considered for the following scholarships. More scholarships may be added to this list progressively.

Offers will be made progressively from ATAR release date onwards.

Scholarship Value and Duration Eligibility
Sir Rupert Myers Scholarship (UGCA1446)

$5,000 for minimum duration of program

  • Must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident (including Humanitarian Visa Holders) or New Zealand Citizen;

  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate study in a Materials Science and Engineering program.
Thomson Family Endowed Scholarship In Materials Science and Engineering (UGCA1117)

$5,000 for minimum duration of program

  • Must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident (including Humanitarian Visa Holders) or New Zealand Citizen;

  • Be commencing full-time undergraduate study in a Materials Science and Engineering program.

Selection Criteria
Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:
  • Academic Merit
  • Leadership skills (school, workplace or community)
  • Extra-curricular activities (sporting, cultural activities, volunteer/work experience)
  • Aptitude and commitment to studies in material science and engineering

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of:

Scholarship Value and Duration Additional Criteria
Faculty of Science Scholarship (UGCA1106)

$5,000 per annum for the minimum duration of program

No additional criteria
Women in Science Scholarship (UGCA1599)

$5,000 per annum for the minimum duration of program

Be female
Science Achiever Award (UGCA1358)

$6,000 for 1 year

No additional criteria

You must provide evidence supporting the above criteria in your online application. Please refer to the Scholarship Application Supporting Documents for a detailed list of examples.

Unanswered application questions or claims without supporting documentation will not be assessed. Late applications/supporting documentation will not be accepted. Activities/Achievements recorded more than 3 years ago will not be considered in your application assessment

Scholarship Value and Duration Additional Criteria
Mike Cannon-Brookes Endowed Scholarship (UGCA1622)

This scholarship will cover 100% of the tuition fees and pay an annual stipend of $10,000 for the duration of the program.
