Position overview:

We invite highly motivated candidates to apply for a PhD position in Seismology at James Cook University (JCU), one of Australia’s leading research institutions located in tropical North Queensland. Research projects are developed in collaboration between the successful applicant and their supervisor, and potential topics include: deep Earth structures, crustal mineralisation dynamics, or seismic monitoring of rainfall. Projects are tailored to align with the candidate’s background, interests, and long-term goals.

Stipend: $34,002 pa

Candidate Requirements

• A first-class Honours or Master's degree in Physics, Geophysics, Computational Physics, or a related discipline

• Strong quantitative and programming skills; experience with seismic data analysis or numerical modelling is highly desirable

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
