Ngarara Willim Postgraduate Coursework Scholarship

This scholarship provides:

  • up to $6,000 per year ($3,000 per semester) for full-time enrolled students for up to two years, or 
  • up to $3,000 per year ($1,500 per semester) for part-time enrolled students for up to four years


This scholarship provides:

  • up to $6,000 per year ($3,000 per semester) for full-time enrolled students for up to two years, or 
  • up to $3,000 per year ($1,500 per semester) for part-time enrolled students for up to four years


To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  • identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • be enrolling full-time or part-time in a postgraduate by coursework program at RMIT in semester 2 2025
  • register with RMIT’s Ngarara Willim Centre  and provide documentation confirming that you are an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander by the scholarship application due date
  • have at least one semester of your program left to complete
  • be passionate about your study and future career

Preference will be given to students who can demonstrate:

  • participation in your local, indigenous and/or university community
  • circumstance/s which impact your ability to study such as:
    • receiving a government tested low income benefit or having a Centrelink Health Care Card
    • living with a disability, long-term medical condition or identify as neurodivergent
    • experiencing personal/family/social difficulties
    • be from an interstate or rural/regional area and moving/moved to Melbourne to study at RMIT
    • have previously/are currently living in foster/kinship care or are a ward of the state

  • What are your future plans and career aspirations?
  • What current challenges do you face in your studies and how will a scholarship help you to overcome this?
  • Please articulate how you are connected and/or contribute to your Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
