Job Description:

Summary

The Child Welfare Research and Training Project (CWRTP) within the Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) department at Iowa State University (ISU) is seeking qualified candidates for a Training Support Specialist. CWRTP provides training administration for the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) child protection workforce in the State of Iowa. This position is an integral part of the broader Service Training Team, which includes the ISU Service Training Team, the HHS Service Training Team, and community subject matter experts. The position serves as the primary point person for the training support delivery activities. They are part of a 3-person training support team supervised by the contract lead.

This is a term position with an end date of 6/30/2026. The possibility of renewal is contingent on funding.

Responsibilities include:

  • assigning training support hosts for courses and facilitating monthly training support delivery check-ins
  • providing both in-person and virtual training support services to ensure the successful implementation of course delivery
  • verifying training venue arrangements, training materials, and guest speakers
  • traveling to provide on-site support to facilitators and participants
  • delivering all training materials, equipment, and supplies and ensuring they are of high-quality and in working order
  • set-up and tear-down at venues
  • collecting, monitoring, and recording attendance
  • attending to participant and facilitator needs
  • providing internal evaluations of the trainings

The Training Support Specialist creates processes and protocols and engages in continuous quality improvement to enhance the facilitator and participant experience. This position requires the ability to travel frequently (potentially 3-5 days per week), including some occasional overnight stays. They will possess a high-level knowledge of technological equipment used for training, such as computers and various connections, cameras, speakers, projectors, and recording devices. They will be comfortable working with/on multiple platforms, software, and web-based project management systems (Smartsheet, Teams, Zoom, HHS, and ISU internal sharing systems).

• May provide guidance to students
