TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Brain and Cognitive Sciences - The Seethapathi Motor Control Group at MIT, to assist in conducting experiments focused on human locomotor control and neuromechanics; to develop and pursue collaborative research projects; to participate in all lab activities; to support research teams in setting up and operating human experiments with physiological measurement systems (e.g., motion capture, force platforms, electromyography, indirect calorimetry, eye gaze tracking); to evaluate joint kinematics and kinetics, muscle activity and strain patterns, and whole-body metabolic energy consumption; possibly be responsible for data analysis and methodological development; and collaborate extensively with graduate students and postdoctoral researchers, providing technical assistance to support their thesis projects.

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Sciences; a minimum of two years of research experience, which can include work from undergraduate experience if related to the job (lab work); interest in conducting human movement experiments; interest in operating and maintaining research equipment for human motor control including motion capture systems, force plates, electromyography systems, and indirect calorimeters; and strong verbal and written communication skills. PREFFERED: Experience operating Vicon Nexus motion capture systems and instrumented treadmill; familiarity with multi-modal physiological signal measurement techniques; experience with Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval processes; demonstrated hands-on ability to maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment; competence in programming languages such as MATLAB or Python; proven ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with internal cross-functional teams and external partners; and demonstrated strong performance in a previous similar role. The base salary is $50,000/year.
