Job Description

Student Affairs Administrator (Dean of Students)

The Student Affairs Administrator (Dean of Students) supports the work of the Office of the Dean of Students and the broader Division of Student Affairs, with a focus on restorative practices within residential communities, student conflict resolution, and educational initiatives that respond to behavioral trends and foster personal and community accountability. This position plays a key role in enhancing student learning, cultivating peer-to-peer leadership, and embedding formative practices into student life.
The Administrator partners closely with divisional staff to address student concerns through restorative-based approaches and supports professional development for on-call professionals and student leaders, including Resident Assistants and other facilitator roles. In collaboration with divisional leadership, the Administrator helps coordinate student support responses, delivers training, and advances divisional priorities across departments.

Acting on behalf of the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students, the Administrator also provides administrative and project-based support and may be called upon to assist with divisional programs, special projects, or initiatives outside of their primary focus.

Work Schedule and Conditions

  • Primarily on-campus; occasional evening and weekend responsibilities; must be able to traverse a hilly campus in varying weather conditions.
  • Each staff member is expected to contribute to university and divisional initiatives beyond their core responsibilities, including staffing events, serving on committees, and supporting the broader mission as needed.

Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $59,400 to $74,250; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of higher education experience is preferred. Undergraduate and Graduate experience in Student Affairs will be considered.
  • Experience working with Student Affairs professionals, students and campus leaders; working knowledge of Student Affairs best practices at R1 Research Institutions, Atlantic Coast Conference schools and/or Jesuit, Catholic schools helpful, but not required.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively with staff from across the division and university.
  • Excellent communication skills (in verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, communicate with a variety of stakeholders, and navigate institutional infrastructure as well as train staff.
  • In-depth understanding of Jesuit education principles and commitment to service; prior experience at a Catholic university highly preferred.
  • Desire to serve in multiple capacities/departments within the Student Affairs portfolio as needed.
