Simulation Technician

Under the direction of the simulation coordinator, the Simulation Technician will provide support for the health and nursing simulation labs. The simulation technician oversees the daily operations of the nursing and health labs and provides assistance to faculty and students. The lab technician is responsible for maintaining optimum calibration and the security of the laboratory equipment, materials, and supplies. This is a full-time position and flexibility of hours which includes evenings and weekends are required.

• Serves as the simulator operator running pre-programmed and/or scripted scenarios under the supervision of health and/or nursing faculty, including the simulation coordinator, and assists during scenarios as directed
• Coordinates and performs set up of rooms for simulation scenarios, including preparing moulage, setting up furniture, supplies, and equipment, and implementing scenarios or skills training
• Conducts routine inventory, stocks, and maintains appropriate levels of lab supplies, materials, and equipment for nursing and health labs
• Conducts routine maintenance of all equipment including cleaning and minor repairs assuring they are in working condition
• Maintains up to date records of care and maintenance of the simulation equipment
• Maintains current knowledge of simulation pedagogy and follow INASCL Standards of Best Practice
• Participates in professional development and/or simulation training as necessary
• Maintains confidentiality regarding simulation scenarios
• Maintains clean and organized labs, including supply rooms
• Conducts tours and demonstrations
• Collects data for ongoing research or grant requirements

Salary Range: $40,000 - $43,000

• Experience with providing technical support in networking, computer hardware or software desired
• Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy/physiology

• One year of experience in allied health profession or simulation preferred
• Adaptability to work a flexible schedule determined by nursing and health simulation lab schedules
• Understand the use and operation of multiple simulator technologies, including high and mid fidelity manikins and task trainers
• Knowledge and ability to use medical equipment (IV pumps, monitors, oxygen delivery systems, etc.)
• Ability to set up and use video equipment
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) to interact with and work effectively with other faculty, staff, students, and vendors in a positive, helpful and cooperative working relationship
• Knowledge of operation of standard audio-visual equipment: projectors, microphones, portable screens, media players, etc.
• Mechanical skills to competently maintain and use equipment in the simulation center
• Organizational and time management skills to keep materials in order, track various projects, maintain files, and follow through assignments to completion
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and ability to quickly learn new technology
• Ability to express technical information clearly and simply to non-technical person
• Physical ability to lift, move, maintain and set up computer, audio-visual and simulation lab equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance
