We are pleased to announce an opening for one Research Assistant Professor in the Chong group with expertise in force field development, weighted ensemble rare-event sampling, and scientific software development. The researcher will be the lead developer of the WESTPA software for weighted ensemble simulations and associated methods.
You will be expected to publish research in high-profile peer-reviewed scientific journals and present results at conferences. You will also be responsible for the maintenance of the group’s computing equipment, for training new members of the group in methods that fall under your expertise, and for fielding questions on the WESTPA user’s mailing list.
Job Description:

• Job Title: Research Assistant Professor
• Anticipated Starting Annual Salary: $110,000
• Location: University of Pittsburgh
• Full-time, non-tenure stream, annual appointment
Required Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in chemistry
• Experience in force field development, weighted ensemble rare-event sampling, and WESTPA software development
• Ability to write peer-reviewed publications as evidenced by a strong publication record
• Commitment to the maintenance of an inclusive work environment
Position Information:
This position is expected to start on July 14, 2025, or at a later time on mutual agreement. This is a non-tenure stream position for two years with the possibility for renewal upon mutual agreement.
