Posting Text | Position Summary: The Physics Department at South Dakota Mines invites applications for a postdoctoral research position with its Particle Physics and Astrophysics group. This is a full-time, benefited position. The successful applicant will primarily work on the DUNE experiment and play a leadership role within the DUNE Photon Detection System consortium, including playing a key role in technology improvements that will power the novel field-cage-integrated large-area photon detectors proposed for DUNE Phase 2. In addition, the successful candidate will be involved in the operation, simulation, and/or data analysis of DUNE prototypes located at CERN. South Dakota Mines is located less than an hour’s drive from the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF), home of the DUNE far detector, the LZ dark matter experiment, the underground accelerator CASPAR, and the MAJORANA Demonstrator. DUNE is the largest next-generation long-baseline neutrino experiment and is currently under construction at SURF. The expected start date for this position is as early as August 1, 2025.
