Deadline: 27 Jul 2025

The Department of Mathematics at the University of San Diego invites applications for a postdoctoral research fellowship in homotopy type theory beginning Fall 2025. This position is funded by the grant entitled “Synthetic and Constructive Mathematics of Higher Structures in Homotopy Type Theory” from the Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI) program of the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR). We expect it to be a 1-year position, contingent on an expected no-cost extension of the grant through Spring 2026.

The postdoctoral fellow will work with Prof. Michael Shulman on projects related to this grant and receive mentoring in all aspects of professional development. Depending on availability and interest, they may have the opportunity to help supervise undergraduate research students and/or to teach undergraduate courses.

Applications are encouraged from candidates working in any area related to homotopy type theory, broadly construed.
