The Schneider Lab at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team focused on understanding cancer biology and metabolic vulnerabilities in lung cancer. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong molecular biology and genome editing experience who are excited to work at the interface of tumor metabolism and therapeutic resistance.
Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in life changing breakthroughs in cancer research and patient care. We are united in our mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS and related diseases. We strive to create an inclusive, diverse, and equitable environment where we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all backgrounds, and design programs to promote public health particularly among high-risk and underserved populations. We conduct groundbreaking research that advances treatment, we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers, and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.
- Conduct independent research projects under the guidance of Dr. Jaime Schneider, focusing on cancer biology, tumor metabolism, and therapeutic response.
- Design and execute experiments using molecular biology techniques, including cloning and CRISPR/Cas9-based genome editing.
- Analyze and interpret complex datasets, including bulk and spatial metabolomics and other high-throughput platforms.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate experimental findings and drive translational research objectives.
- Prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present research findings at scientific conferences.
- Mentor and supervise graduate students and research assistants.
- Stay current with the latest developments in cancer research and contribute to new project ideas and experimental strategies.
- Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in molecular biology techniques, including cloning and genome editing with CRISPR/Cas9 systems.
- Strong background in cancer research with a proven track record of publications.
- Proficient in molecular and cellular biology methods (e.g., cell culture, PCR, Western blotting, microscopy).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with mouse models of cancer is strongly preferred; candidates without prior experience will be considered if willing to learn.
- Interest in tumor metabolism and a strong desire to gain experience in bulk and spatial metabolomics.
- Solid bioinformatics skills, including familiarity with tools for analyzing omics datasets and integrating molecular data.
At Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, we work every day to create an innovative, caring, and inclusive environment where every patient, family, and staff member feels they belong. As relentless as we are in our mission to reduce the burden of cancer for all, we are equally committed to diversifying our faculty and staff. Cancer knows no boundaries and when it comes to hiring the most dedicated and diverse professionals, neither do we. If working in this kind of organization inspires you, we encourage you to apply.
