Job Description

---

The Sensory Neurobiology Lab at the University of Oklahoma (https://chrislemonlab.org/ ) is recruiting a beginning or advanced post-doctoral research associate. The Lab uses mouse models to investigate the functional organization of the gustatory and trigeminal nervous systems. Our studies aim to delineate molecular and neural circuit mechanisms that underlie the sensory coding of orofacial thermal, Chem esthetic, and taste sensations, and cross-modal and multisensory interactions between somatosensory and gustatory signals in the periphery and brain. The Lab’s work takes a multidisciplinary approach to understanding sensory neural processing in the context of animal behavior.

The position is funded by active NIH grants supporting the Lab. The minimum qualifications to apply are:

  • Ph.D. or related degree completed in neuroscience or an associated field.
  • Experience with a programming language (MATLAB, Python, R, or others).
  • Expertise in neurophysiology or animal behavior.

Applicants are expected to have strong communication and writing skills and to have co-authored peer-reviewed published research articles. Applicants are expected to show strong independence, capable of leading their own projects, while working in a highly collaborative team environment. Applicants should have a willingness to learn new research concepts, approaches, and techniques. Under the training and guidance of the PI, the successful applicant may be involved with study design, data collection and analysis, writing and communication of research findings, mentoring students in research, and the development of new collaborative and independent research projects and grants.

To apply, please submit a letter of interest, a CV, and the names and contact information for three references to lemon@ou.edu.
