Are you passionate about cutting-edge research in nonlinear optical and scattering techniques? Join our team in the Chemistry Department as a part-time Postdoctoral Research Associate! In this role, you will support the development and implementation of nonlinear scattering setups and contribute to ongoing research on the role of interfaces in liquid-liquid phase separation and carbohydrate recognition. Ideal candidates will have a experience in colloidal nanomaterials, soft matter, and optical spectroscopy or microscopy techniques. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate closely with both graduate and undergraduate students, fostering a collaborative and innovative research environment. Opportunities to Contribute

  • Designs and performs experiments at soft matter interfaces using advanced nonlinear vibrational spectroscopy and scattering.

  • Builds and optimizes the nonlinear spectroscopy and scattering setup for multiple interfacial molecular structure measurements.

  • Actively collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on research and publications. 

  • Works with graduate and undergraduate students in the lab towards solving problems related to interface characterization.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemistry, Physics or related field.

A well-qualified candidate will also possess

  • Knowledge of colloids, emulsions, nanomaterials.

  • Experience with optical setup construction as it pertains to required research.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience working with vibrational spectroscopy or micro spectroscopy techniques.

  • Expertise in laser systems, nonlinear optics, and optical setup construction.

Hourly Rate: $25.97 per hour  

Schedule: This part time position may require work during the night and on weekends.

Special Note: This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding, which is renewed through provisions of the grantor of the contract. Therefore, this position is contingent upon continuation of funding from these grants and/or contracts, as well as satisfactory job performance.
