PURPOSE
The purpose of the position is to assist Dr. Rupert in his research agenda, and to teach courses in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at TAMUCC. The postdoc will bring their expertise in algebra and representation theory, expand research capacity of Dr. Rupert, facilitate increasing the number of publications and grant success, and provide an opportunity for Dr. Rupert to mentor a future generation of academic researchers.
DESCRIPTION
Functional Area 1: Research
Percent Effort: 65%
Perform academic research relating to Algebra and Representation Theory
Work on and publish papers
Functional Area 2: Teaching
Percent Effort: 30%
Teach two full semester courses per year.
Delivering lectures and teaching materials that suit algebra and representation theory curriculum
Grading assignments, quizzes, exams
Holding office hours
Support and promote academic missions of the college. algebra and representation theory in general.
Functional Area 3: Other
Percent Effort: 5%
Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
PhD in mathematics on a topic related to algebra or representation theory.
Publications in algebra or representation theory.
Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc)
Independent, self-motivated, and well-organized
Good verbal and written communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work with various faculty members, undergraduate and graduate students.
Experience in coordinating/ managing research projects.
Teaching experience in a university setting.
Knowledge of modern teaching and learning techniques.
NOTE: This is a two-year position and earliest start date is 09/01/2025
SALARY: $50,000/annually, approximately.
$4,166.67 /monthly.
