What we want  

The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to serve as a member of the Microbial Pathogenesis and Immunology team. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be responsible for performing investigations related to infectious disease projects. This position will focus on several ongoing projects in host-pathogen interactions related to viruses, phage, tuberculosis, mycobacteria and other respiratory pathogens.

Qualifications

Required Education:

  • Appropriate PhD

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Technical laboratory skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD, D.V.M. and/or M.D.

  • Record of productive experience in immunology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology of pathogens preferred

Responsibilities

  • Research: Conducts independent research on mycobacterial, viral, and other respiratory pathogens, and publication of results. Designs, develops, and conducts research experiments. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques and procedures.

  • Research Data: Collects, compiles, organizes, and analyzes data. Documents, summarizes, and interprets results. Maintains experimental records and documentation.

  • Writing: Participates and assists with the preparation of manuscripts, grants, and publications of scientific data in peer-revised journals based on research.

  • Collaboration: Attends laboratory meetings and departmental seminars. Interfaces with collaborators to advance projects. Participate in projects involving lab personnel.
