Postdoctoral Position in Cancer Diagnostics, Genomics, and Epigenetics (Patel Lab)
A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Abhijit Patel at the Yale Cancer Center and the Yale School of Medicine (www.patel-lab.org). Our laboratory has a highly translational focus, with the overall goal of developing non-invasive diagnostic tools for early detection and surveillance of cancer. We have developed innovative technologies to enable ultrasensitive measurement of cancer-associated genomic and epigenomic alterations in cell-free DNA in blood. Most recently, we have developed methods for measuring genome-wide methylation signatures in blood to identify early-stage cancers or early recurrences after therapy. In addition, this platform technology is generating rich whole-methylome datasets from which insights can be gained on tumor heterogeneity, clonal evolution, and therapeutic sensitivity/resistance. Our lab is currently focused on establishing the clinical utility of these technologies and exploring potential new translational applications.
We seek a highly motivated individual with an interest in cancer genomics, epigenomics, and translational cancer research. Candidates must have a strong research track record and must hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree. A background in nucleic acid biochemistry, bioinformatics, and/or data science is advantageous, but we welcome talented applicants from all fields of biomedicine. Researchers with a background in chemistry might find our lab to be a particularly good fit.
If you would like to join our efforts to create new diagnostic tools with the ultimate goal of improving cancer outcomes, please send your CV and a brief cover letter to: abhijit.patel@yale.edu
Selected candidates will be asked to provide contact information for telephone references. Interviews can be conducted in person or via Zoom, depending on geographic constraints.
