Location | Bloomington |
Position Summary | A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Lau Lab in the Department of Biology at Indiana University (https://biology.indiana.edu/about/faculty/lau-jennifer.html). We are seeking applicants interested in community ecology or evolutionary ecology to lead projects investigating: 1) How rhizobium mutualists influence natural selection on plant traits; and/or 2) Evolutionary responses to long-term global changes (nitrogen-addition and drought stress). We welcome applications from creative and ambitious individuals interested in bringing their own personal expertise and ideas to these projects. For full consideration, applicants must have a passion for field and/or greenhouse work, strong scientific writing skills, statistical expertise, and a history of performing strong, creative, question-based science. The Department of Biology has a vibrant intellectual atmosphere and excellent facilities for conducting plant ecology and evolution research (http://www.bio.indiana.edu/). Postdocs will have ample opportunity to interact and collaborate with other labs at IU and beyond. For example, for the rhizobium project, the postdoc will be encouraged to participate in the GEMS Biological Integration Institute {https://symbiosis.illinois.edu/}, and the evolutionary responses to global change project will require regular interactions with the Isbell, Hobbie, and Reich labs at the University of Minnesota and the Etterson lab at University of Minnesota, Duluth. The College of Arts and Sciences is committed to building and supporting a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community of students and scholars. |
Basic Qualifications | A Ph.D. in ecology or evolution or a related field is required. The starting salary is $58,656, plus benefits included. For full consideration, applicants must have a passion for field and/or greenhouse work, strong scientific writing skills, statistical expertise, and a history of performing strong, creative, question-based science. |
