Job Summary
The Mississippi Digital Humanities Hub is seeking a post-doctoral scholar to support its mission to serve as a digital humanities hub for the state of Mississippi. This grant-funded position, renewable for up to two years, will focus on planning and creating materials for a series of digital humanities summer workshops and creating web-based pedagogical tools for secondary and college educators.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Develop, plan and prepare lessons, training guides, and materials for a series of three summer workshops hosted by the CDH. These workshops will be geared towards higher-education faculty, undergraduate students, and secondary-education teachers from across Mississippi.
2. Train student workers, staff, and faculty to teach and support these workshops.
3. Assist with the development and support of funded DH scholarship, both at USM and at partner institutions across the state, including teaching workshops on digitization, digital humanities, and DH pedagogy.
4. Adhere to CDH and university policies, procedures, and regulations, and perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
PhD in a humanities field (English, History, Philosophy), with at least one year’s experience working in the digital humanities or DH pedagogy.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience working with digital humanities tools, pedagogy, and methods.
- Experience teaching, with special consideration given to experience teaching digital humanities skills to audiences with a range of experience.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to adjust work based on input and work within a collaborative, team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in workshop planning.
Experience with web development or programming.
One-year’s teaching experience.
