Applications are solicited for an individual to be appointed as a postdoctoral associate under the supervision of Prof. Mark Tuckerman. The research will focus on the use of classical and quantum molecular simulation and machine learning techniques to understand charge transport mechanisms in novel classes of organic electrolytes for use in emerging battery technologies and, based on these studies, to develop new electrolyte compositions, including proton-transporting and redox-active compounds. This work will be carried out as part of a multi-institutional DOE-funded Energy Frontiers Research Center and will involve collaboration with experimental and computational groups within the center. Successful applicants will be highly motivated with an interest in working in theoretical and computational chemistry and have research experience in molecular dynamics and path integral simulation methods, machine learning techniques, and electronic structure techniques. Additional background in statistical mechanics and deep eutectic solvents is highly desirable.
The terms of employment, which would be a year, with a possibility of renewal, include a competitive salary and other benefits. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and candidates will be considered until the position is filled.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, this position's annual base salary range is $62,500.00 ? $68,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, or Applied Mathematics and no more than five years of postdoctoral training
To be considered, all applicants must submit a cover letter summarizing research experience and specifying their interests in this position (less than two pages), a curriculum vitae (including a complete list of publications), and two contacts to serve as references (previous research mentors are preferred as references).
