For the scholarship component, the candidate can choose to be involved in one of the following opportunities:
· Laboratory Research: Research will be conducted in the laboratory of a faculty member in the department, with summers devoted primarily to research activities. Candidates should work with a potential PI to develop research plans. Additional information about our academic programs and research interests of faculty can be found at https://www.bu.edu/biology/ .
· Curriculum Development/Pedagogical Research Initiatives: This track includes additional teaching responsibilities in the summer and the potential for curriculum development of current courses and/or educational research in collaboration with course instructors. Candidates should reach out to Dr. Kale Hartmann (hartma@bu.edu ) to discuss current opportunities and develop plans.
Qualifications:
· Early-career Ph.D. with degree in biology or related biomedical science, or biology education. We are currently particularly interested in candidates with a genetics or neurobiology focus, but all specialties are welcome to apply.

Salary for this position will be $67,500.
BU conducts a background check on all final candidates for certain faculty and staff positions. The background check includes contacting the final candidate’s current and previous employer(s) to ask whether, in the last seven years, there has been a substantiated finding of misconduct violating that employer’s applicable sexual misconduct policies. To implement this process, the University requires a final candidate to complete and sign the form entitled “Authorization to Release Information” after execution of an offer letter.
