Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate within the Rutgers Cancer Institute.
In this role, the primary responsibilities of the Postdoctoral Associate are to independently investigate the regulation of receptor tyrosine kinase signaling and its influence on tumor response to treatment, to elucidate the mechanism by which PI3K mutations alter sensitivity to both DNA-damaging agents (including radiation) and targeted therapeutics, and to understand how altered signaling can be exploited to increase the efficacy of cancer therapies.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
  • Performs independent research relevant to the interest and field of cancer biology and radiation biology under the direction of the PI.
  • Publishes reports of key findings in a timely manner.
  • Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments. Compiles and presents statistical data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations pertinent to the research.
  • Prepares grant proposals at the appropriate level based on the research conducted.
  • Maintains an up-to-date understanding of the relevant literature.
  • Gives oral presentations of the research at lab meetings, and national and international conferences.
  • Assists with the instruction and training of students, fellows, technicians, and laboratory assistants as required.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. and/or M.D required.
  • Qualified candidates must be in the process of completing or have finished the training for Ph.D. and/or M.D.
  • Candidates must provide proof all requirements have been fulfilled before their position start date.
Certifications/Licenses

  • Must be competent in standard laboratory techniques and basic bio-statistical tools, with effective communication skills oral and written.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Exposure to blood, excrement, antineoplastic drugs and possible exposure to infectious and communicable diseases.
  • Universal precautions are mandatory. Exposure to hazardous chemicals.
