Postdoctoral Associate Position in the Dr. Hua Xu Lab at Biomedical Informatics and Data Science (BIDS), Yale School of Medicine
 
This is a full-time, ON-SITE position.

Introduction: The Department of Biomedical Informatics & Data Science (BIDS) is a new department at the intersection of health sciences and information technology. It develops new approaches to organize and analyze biomedical and healthcare data to promote health for all. Position Overview: We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified postgraduate trainee to join the project team. This individual should have experience in python programming including experience with the Pytorch library and running deep learning models. The successful candidate will work closely with a team of researchers and faculty members in the ClinicalNLP lab led by Dr. Hua Xu. Qualifications and Skills:
 
A PhD in computer science, information science, informatics, biomedical informatics, or related field. 
Strong knowledge and experience in natural language processing, machine learning, and deep learning. 
Strong written and oral communication skills in English. 
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated scientific contributions to the field (first-author papers in highly recognized computer science, data science or informatics journals or conference proceedings)
Strong programming skills, preferably Python and experience with frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
 
Mentoring: The primary supervisor, Dr. Hua Xu, is a well-known researcher in clinical NLP. The postdoc will be directly mentored by Dr. Xu and will also work closely with other faculty and postdocs in the lab. They will participate in weekly research group meetings and have access to career development mentoring experiences.
