Job Description
We seek full-time Postdoctoral Associates in the areas of highly efficient computational methodologies for genome assembly (Dr. Haoyu Cheng), biomedical data privacy related to genomics (Dr. Hoon Cho), computational biology and personalized medicine (Dr. Rodriguez Martinez), genome/phenotype analysis (Dr. Jihoon Kim) and applications of large language models (Dr. Ohno-Machado).
 
The Postdoctoral Associate will be responsible for co-developing and conducting research projects and studies, writing peer-reviewed articles, and formulating new research questions for future analysis. We are looking for individuals with a background in data science, computer science, biomedical informatics, genetics or molecular biology, and their intersection with health sciences and healthcare.
 
Key Responsibilities
The highly motivated and successful candidate can expect significant intellectual autonomy coupled with supportive mentorship to develop and deliver novel and meaningful research in their area of interest.  Through post-doctoral research the scientist will:
 

Design of programs addressing significant AI/ML challenges in genetics and molecular biology

Publish research papers in peer-reviewed journals or conferences in areas relevant to the study

Collaborate with other Yale BIDS members to prepare and deliver conference presentations of research results

Work on dissemination and outreach, including teaching opportunities if available at collaborative programs

Develop and submit K99/R00 proposals or equivalent, with support from the faculty, to launch their independent scientific careers

 
Skills & Qualifications
Recently completed a PhD in a related field. If PhD award is pending, letter from the thesis advisor should confirm that the award will be within 3 months of application.
 
Proven record of publications and research outputs
 
Specialization or demonstrated interest in the proposed area study
 
Excellent writing skills demonstrated in research publications
 
Collaborative work abilities demonstrated through public acknowledgement by others of their contributions.
 
Ability to communicate effectively to the American scientific community (including funding agencies through proposal preparation)
 
Interest in pursuing an academic career
 
Additional Information:
A Postdoctoral Associate position is an initial appointment of one year renewable upon satisfactory progress. Wages range from $68,500-$72,500, please see postdoc salaries and benefits at the following links https://postdocs.yale.edu/policies/postdoc-compensation and Postdoctoral Associates Benefits 2025. This is not a remote opportunity. The position is at Yale in New Haven, CT.
 
In accordance with university requirements, postdoctoral trainees in this position are expected to be on campus full time for in-person training.
