Introduction:  The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences is renowned for its research excellence and recognized as a worldwide leader in basic, translational and clinical research on reproductive health and disease.
 
Overview of the Position:  We are looking for a Postdoctoral associate to join our research in translational reproductive medicine in Dr. Yang’s group as part of Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences in Dr. Yong-hui Jiang’s lab located in the Department of Genetics. The primary focus of this group is translational science in women’s ovarian health with emphasis on genetic techniques. Ongoing projects include understanding the mechanisms of ovarian aging, gene therapy for primary ovarian insufficiency, and discovering new genes that underlie primary ovarian insufficiency/diminished ovarian reserve. These studies range from clinical research to molecular studies in mouse models of disease.
 
Training/Mentoring: The postdoctoral associate will have the opportunity to gain experience with in clinical and basic research skills (e.g. ranging from human subject consent, medical record abstraction, and processing human specimens), as well as cell biology techniques (e.g. DNA/RNA and protein extraction and quantification, cell culture, stem cell culture, flow cytometry), immunohistochemistry, and mouse models of disease (animal surgery, animal husbandry, microsurgery). In addition, Human Subjects and HIPAA training will be provided. Additional mentorship will be provided in a manner tailored to the individual’s long-term career goals (scientific writing, presentation, public speaking).
 
Education/Qualifications: A doctorate (PhD, or MD, or MD,PhD) degree in medicine or life sciences/biology is required. Prior experience working in animal models, animal surgery, molecular biology techniques such as cloning, cell culture, is preferred. To excel in this role, the applicant should be dedicated and reliable with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently, as well as in a team.
