Job Summary/Basic Function
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in our Molecular and Nutrigenomics Lab. The successful candidate will conduct innovative research aimed at elucidating the molecular mechanisms underlying the interaction between nutrition and genetics, with a focus on understanding how dietary factors influence gene expression, epigenetic modifications, and metabolic pathways. Techniques
  • Molecular Biology
  • DNA & RNA isolation and estimation.
  • PCR (rt PCR, Gradient PCR, Multiplex PCR).
  • Electrophoresis (Agarose, SDS-PAGE, 2D).
  • Blotting (Western).

Cell Culture
  • Mouse/Human model system cell lines.
  • Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cell cultures.
  • Primary Cell cultures.

Biochemical Techniques
  • Protein Purification from different sources like plants, and cell lines.
  • Estimation of Proteins.
  • Spectrophotometry.
  • Chromatography – Paper, TLC, & Column.

Microbial Techniques
  • Isolation and Maintenance of organisms – plating, streaking, serial dilution, slants, and swab culture.
  • Microscopic examination of micro-organisms.

Bioinformatics Skills
  • Biological databases: Nucleotide and Protein.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute research experiments to investigate the molecular mechanisms of nutrientgene interactions using advanced molecular biology, genomics, and bioinformatics techniques.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, generate hypotheses, and contribute to the development of research strategies and methodologies.
  • Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present results at scientific conferences and seminars.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including principal investigators, graduate students, and other post-doctoral fellows, to advance research projects and achieve project milestones.
  • Mentor and train students, research assistants, and undergraduate students in laboratory techniques, experimental design, and data analysis.
  • Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature, methodologies, and technological advancements in molecular biology, genomics, and nutrition research.
  • Contribute to grant writing and funding proposals to secure external research funding for the lab.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, nutrition, or a related field.
  • Strong background and expertise in molecular biology techniques, genomics, and bioinformatics. Demonstrated track record of scientific productivity, including first-author publications in peerreviewed journals.
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies, transcriptomics, epigenomics, and/or metabolomics is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., R, Python) and bioinformatics tools for data analysis is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.
  • Self-motivated, independent thinker with a passion for scientific inquiry and a desire to make significant contributions to the field of molecular nutrigenomics.
