Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The postdoctoral associate will be responsible for developing theory of the quantum-trajectory based adaptable Gaussian (QTAG) bases, implementing the QTAG approach in a computer code, and testing and benchmarking it on model systems relevant to chemistry.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in area of research specialty by start date of employment. 
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral (Ph.D.) by the start date of employment in theoretical chemistry, physics, or a closely related field. The preferred candidate should have an established record of successful theoretical and computational projects in molecular sciences and of peer-reviewed publications; good oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Experience in programming in python and C++/Fortran, symbolic math software (e.g. Maple, MATLAB), and writing research papers using latex. Ability to analyze data and write research papers.

Job Duty
Perform mathematical derivations of equations. The purpose is to develop an efficient description of the time-dependent wavefunctions. This will be done by using MAPLE, MATLAB, or similar software installed on USC and research group computers.

Code development and debugging. This is needed to assess the accuracy and scalability of large systems of the new QTAG method beyond simple analytic models.

Benchmarking and application. This is needed for comparison with the existing quantum dynamics methods and studies of new chemical systems. This is done on USC and group research computers.
