Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
Collaborate with Principal Investigator on large, complex research projects for the Department of Biomedical Sciences and the Human Performance Laboratory (HPL). This will include developing and executing research studies, writing grants, analyzing data, co-authoring publications, assisting with methodology development and study protocol.
With general supervision of the Principal Investigator and HPL Director, the Post-Doctoral Fellow will serve as an investigator on the major extramurally funded research projects currently being conducted by the HPL. This effort will include conducting data collection, data analyses, conducting implementation and evaluation research, co-authoring research publications, and contributing to the development of new grant applications.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in area of research specialty.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Exercise Science, Public Health, or related field. ABD applicants welcome to apply. Selected candidate must provide evidence of completion of all degree requirements prior to employment start date.
Prefer prior experience in grant writing, research design and development, execution of studies, data analysis, manuscript writing.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Individual must be able to conceptualize and implement physical activity and lifestyle medicine research. They must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to work independently and be highly organized, with the ability to oversee multiple ongoing tasks. The ability to work effectively as part of a team and oversee trainee work. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to engage in productive research and educational activity. Knowledge of physical activity behavior, implementation research, documented ability to publish research in quality, peer-reviewed journals.
