The Shigella-ETEC Vaccine Research Lab in the Center for Vaccine Development is seeking a qualified Postdoctoral Fellow to work on research investigating the interactions of Shigella with human cells in order to 1) identify pathogen features required for the pathogenic process, 2) identify point of intervention for vaccine development, and 3) characterize host responses to support vaccine development.  Funding is available for up to two years with a start date starting in September 2024.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate would possess skills in microbiology, bacteriology (BSL2), molecular biology, cell culture, microscopy, and statistical analysis, and expertise in either infectious disease research. We are looking for someone with an interest in basic science on bacterial pathogens with translational implications for worldwide impact. This position would provide opportunities to learn novel cell modeling systems and immune response characterization and all aspects of vaccine development.  

  Education: PhD in microbiology, biochemistry, or related fields 

Preferred Experience: Demonstrated experience in laboratory science using molecular methods and advanced analytic methodologies to study enteric bacterial pathogens.
