About the Junge Lab: The Junge lab at the University of Minnesota Medical School (Twin Cities) seeks to appoint a talented postdoctoral trainee in the field of endothelial cell calcium signaling. The Junge lab studies neurovascular signaling and integrates mouse genetics, molecular and protein- biochemical methods, cell biology, and various -omics methods. This position is considered an "essential employee", expected to report to work during emergency closures, unless specifically instructed not to report to work at these times.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs in vitro and in vivo experiments in the fields of CNS angiogenesis, blood-brain barrier, and calcium signaling in endothelial cells. 
  • Carries out experiments independently from start to finish, trouble shoots, and optimizes methods. Analyzes, interprets, and presents complex experimental results. Performs statistical analyses. 
  • Understands models of biological processes, derives appropriate predictions from these models, and designs/conducts experiments to test those predictions. 
  • Prepares manuscripts and figures for publication. 
  • Presents work internally at UMN or externally at scientific conferences, receives training in scientific communication (presentations, papers, grants).

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Biological Sciences, obtained within the last two years. 
  • In-depth knowledge in retinal vascular biology, mouse genetics, Ca 2+ signaling in endothelial cells, imaging and image quantifications, and endothelial cell based in vitro
    assays. 
  • Experience working with mice.
  • UMN RAR training completed.
