About the Job
Job Duties: Lead development of core reconstruction and simulation software for the LDMX experiment. Lead a lecture section of a large introductory physics course including development of lectures and oversight of teaching assistants. Develop software for the readout of prototype and production electronics for the LDMX and CMS experiments. Coordinate the testing of electronics, including problem-solving for production testing of electronics. Lead data analysis efforts in search for new phenomena and/or measurement of particle parameters from experimental particle physics data. Apply experience to development of future particle physics experiments. Work with graduate students and undergraduate students on data analysis and detector projects.
40% Instruction of introductory physics lecture section
25% Core reconstruction and simulation software and computing development
15% Construction, integration, and commissioning of particle physics detectors
15% Analysis of collider and fixed-target data and simulation samples
5% Communication of research and coordination with other research teams
Other duties of a similar scope as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
PhD or equivalent in experimental high energy physics or a closely related field. Experience in instruction at the introductory undergraduate level. Experience with framework-level software development for detector reconstruction and simulation.
Preferred Requirements:
Experience with the software and hardware of the proposed LDMX experiment, including both low-level framework development and physics analysis.
Experience with the management of large-course dynamics including work with teaching assistants.
Experience in the qualification and testing of electronics for particle physics experiments.
Experience in working with distributed research groups and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.

Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $61,008 to $63,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
