Job Summary | The Neuromechanics and Applied Locomotion Laboratory at the University of Utah is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on a funded research study investigating the effects of mild traumatic brain injuries (i.e., concussions) on balance control. The proposed project will investigate reactive balance paradigms during standing and walking. Additionally, the postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to collaborate on several other studies in the Neuromechanics and Applied Locomotion Laboratory spanning balance, locomotor control, and rehabilitation. The postdoctoral fellow will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Peter Fino, faculty in the Department of Health & Kinesiology and adjunct faculty in the Departments of Physical Therapy & Athletic Training, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Center, and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Utah. The postdoctoral fellow will also work in close collaboration with other postdoctoral fellows, research staff, graduate students, and faculty in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Physical Therapy & Athletic Training, and collaborative institutions. Utah is the west at its best! The University of Utah is located in Salt Lake City, in the foothills of the majestic Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountains. The Salt Lake City region has four distinct seasons, ready access to all outdoor activities including superb skiing at eight world-famous resorts just minutes from campus. The Salt Lake City International Airport is a Delta hub with direct flights to most major US markets and numerous international cities. There is easy access to hiking, biking, camping, and exploring in nearby canyons and in the spectacular red-rock country of southern Utah. Ten National Parks are within a day’s driving distance of the University. Salt Lake City also offers professional symphony, ballet, modern dance, opera and theater performances, art galleries, world-class restaurants and professional sports. The position will stay open until filled. The funding for this position is available for 2 years, and may be renewed for additional years pending the availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with experience and the NIH post-doctoral salary scale. |
