Job Summary | The Evo-Epidemiology Laboratory at the University of Utah is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to join our group to study the evolution and transmission of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Tuberculosis (TB) kills more people globally than any other infectious disease. Our group leverages the constant evolution of M. tuberculosis to ask questions about transmission and evolution, with the goal of informing public health and preventing disease in vulnerable populations. We work closely with a large group of collaborators in Brazil, Paraguay, and elsewhere. The postdoctoral fellow will lead work applying new sequencing and computational approaches to analyze M. tuberculosis genomic data. The fellow will have the opportunity to be part of an interdisciplinary, international team of scientists and clinicians. There will be opportunities for mentoring students and leading new projects. Our group. We are committed to creating a safe research community that, in particular, invites and supports students from groups historically underrepresented in the sciences. We are committed to anti-racist, anti-imperialist, abolitionist research program and group culture. We are highly collaborative—lab members are valued as co-constructors of knowledge and part of a supportive research community. Our goal is to ask questions to directly inform public health, in particular, in low-income settings. Qualifications:
