Post-doc positions in nanomedicine and immunotherapy

We are looking for motivated and talented post-docs who completed their PhD research in topics related to nanomedicine and immunotherapy research.

Description of the Positions:

The Steinmetz Lab (steinmetzlab.com) at UC San Diego is seeking talented and motivated post-doctoral researchers to work in cancer immunotherapy. We are developing cancer and cardiovascular immunotherapies using plant viruses as nanotechnology platform. Plant viruses serve both as a epitope display platform and adjuvant, making them intriguing materials for immunotherapy applications. We are particularly interested to recruit researchers with a background in nanotechnology/nanomedicine, immunotherapy, or immunology. Candidates with backgrounds primarily in nanoparticle synthesis or pharmacology are not suited for this position. Background in molecular biology, cloning, immunology (multi-color flow cytometry) and animal work (cancer or cardiovascular) are desired. 

The candidate will receive mentoring to prepare them for future careers in academia or industry, including project management skills, fellowship/proposal writing and effective scientific communication. The candidates will have the opportunity and are expected to prepare peer-reviewed manuscripts and attend scientific conferences.

Qualifications Required and Preferred Academic Background:

The ideal candidate should demonstrate creativity, passion for scientific inquiry, and an ability to link fundamental science to real-world applications. The ideal candidate will also have:

a PhD degree in nanotechnology, biotechnology, immunology, chemistry, biomedical/chemical engineering, or related disciplines. Prior post-doc experience is not required and not preferred .

The Steinmetz Lab and UC San Diego offer a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment. The candidate will have access to state-of-the art research facilities across the UC San Diego campus.
