Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The Mental Healthcare Coordinator will serve as the full-time administrative and clinical coordinator for the Clinic for Counseling and Assessment (CCA), a student-operated, faculty-directed training clinic that delivers behavioral health services in underserved South Carolina counties. This role supports both clinic operations and outreach initiatives by coordinating referrals, facilitating services, supervising graduate students, and establishing and maintaining collaborative partnerships within our designated performance counties (Chester, Fairfield, Calhoun, and Orangeburg). The Mental Healthcare Coordinator plays a crucial role in maintaining clinic operations, aligning training and service objectives, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Requires a master’s degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials
Licensed or license eligible as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of South Carolina within 6 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in counselor education and supervision from CACREP accredited program.
    • Applicants who are “ABD” are encouraged to apply.
    • Applicants from PhD programs in Rehabilitation Counseling are also encouraged to apply.
  • SC licensure as an LPC-S.
  • Previous supervisory experience with graduate student trainees.
  • Familiarity with rural mental health needs and culturally responsive care practices.
  • Successful record of community engagement.
  • Experience as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records and HIPAA-compliant documentation.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to lead, supervise, and coordinate the day-to-day operations of a small, student-operated counseling clinic in conjunction with faculty direction. 
  • Ability to provide evidence-based clinical supervision and clinical counseling. 
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations of clinical counseling with adults and children. 
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with the community partners and referral sources. 
  • Knowledge and ability to utilize state-of-the-art systems to support the administration of a counseling clinic. 
  • Ability to train team members in counseling clinic policies and procedures. 
  • The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and creative individual who values working collaboratively with faculty and students, and will contribute to the program’s mission through clinic and community engagement.

  • Serve as the first point of contact for internal and external referrals.
  • Coordinate intake processes, triage cases, and assign to student clinicians.
  • Maintain accurate clinical and administrative records using secure systems.
  • Monitor caseload distribution and ensure timely follow-up and documentation.
  • Provide administrative oversight of scheduling, tracking service hours, and ensuring compliance with clinical protocols and privacy regulations.

  • Develop and sustain relationships with key community stakeholders including schools, primary care offices, behavioral health providers, and community organizations in our performance counties.
  • Recruit prospective students interested in counseling careers via events held in key communities.
  • Promote awareness of clinic services and referral procedures through outreach events and educational presentations.
  • Represent the CCA at local health and service coalition meetings as needed.

Student Supervision and Support:
  • Provide administrative and/or clinical supervision for graduate students (i.e., graduate assistants and practicum/internship students) in the Counseling & Rehabilitation program under the direction of faculty and commensurate with credentials held.
  • Facilitate and ensure adherence to students’ practicum and internship requirements as it pertains to being a clinical fieldwork site.
  • Assist in onboarding and training students on clinic policies, record-keeping systems, and ethical practice
  • Ensure students follow appropriate clinical workflows and maintain professional standards.

  • Collaborate with faculty and program leadership to assess clinic performance and client satisfaction
  • Assist with data collection and reporting to support grants, accreditation, and funding opportunities.

  • Engage with and respond to direction and supervision from CCA Faculty Directors.
