Assist Student Health Services providers in providing medical care and health education to students visiting the GCSU Student Health clinic. Assist with front-office duties including greeting patients, appointment scheduling, managing walk-in appointments, collecting insurance information and medical histories, and other office management duties. Perform direct patient care for acute illnesses, medication administration, injections, routine lab testing, and perform other functions and duties that comply with all state and federal regulations and requirements for the position of Medical Assistant.

Patient Care - 60
- Intake: Receive patient concerns and develop diagnosis and treatment plan in consultation with the supervising NP. Take vital signs and initiate charting for all patients.
- General care: Patient care procedures include but are not limited to general physical exams, eye exams, nebulizer treatments, respiratory treatments, immunizations, flu and strep tests, TB skin tests, sutures, bandaging, and basic first aid. Phone in prescriptions to pharmacies and manage referrals to other care providers.
- Specialty student campaigns: Assist with student immunization clinics, Nursing cohort physicals, and specific screenings and tests on an as-needed basis.
General Office Duties - 35
- Facilitate patient flow in the Student Health clinic while providing excellent customer service and patient confidentiality
- Manage appointments and walk-in visits with clinical providers
- Receive and return phone calls and send patient follow-up e-mails
- Collect patient insurance information
- Collect payment for in-office services
- Manage inventory of medications, supplies, and equipment
- Coordinate lab pick-ups, chart transfers, purchasing and ordering of supplies
- Sanitize exam rooms and restock supplies
Other - 5
Performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to serving on division or campus committees, develops initiatives for the department and division, and implementing special projects.

Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Other Required Qualifications
- Completion of all courses of accredited CMA, RMA, or EMT program
- Active Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician certification
- CPR certification

Preferred Educational Qualifications
- Associate of Science in Nursing degree (ASN)
Preferred Experience
Prefer 2-3 years clinical experience, prior experience with charting in an electronic medical record, previous medical coding experience preferred.
One year of professional experience working as an MA or EMT in a healthcare setting
Experience working on a college campus or with college-age populations
