POSITION SPECIFICS

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Surgery, Division of Applied Biomedical Engineering is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer to work on campus in Hershey, PA.  A successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in biomedical engineering and laboratory research.  They will be responsible for performing a variety of job duties, including:

  • Applying engineering techniques to ensure proper mechanical system operation of blood pumps.
  • Resolve system malfunctions and/or equipment failures and provide technical information for improvements.
  • Research alternative methods to design and develop devices.  Collaborate with team.
  • Work independently on moderately complex work assignments and review the work of others to verify accuracy and conformance to technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports.
  • Oversee and review project requirements; assess mechanical design efforts, timeliness of material and pump production, and quality assurance of end device.
  • Maintain relationships with client agencies to ensure material delivery of time sensitive products and clear understanding of material specifications.  Provide training as needed.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Mechanical Engineer - Senior Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 6+ years of relevant experience Required Certifications: None If filled as Mechanical Engineer - Advanced Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $86,300.00 - $145,700.00.
