Valid Master Plumbers License – State of Kentucky.
Physical Requirements
Lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to and over 50lbs; Standing or walking with objects up to 25lbs; Working at heights above 4 feet; Confined spaces; Loud noises; Temperature extremes; Hazardous chemicals, fumes, including waste; May be subject to outdoor working conditions; Ditches; and Trenches.
Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and movement of the whole body, such as required in climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Ability to work off ladders.
Shift
7:30 am – 4:15 pm; (Monday – Friday).
Hours of work may vary dependent upon situational factors and emergencies requiring night(s), weekend(s), and holiday(s) response.
May be assigned as on-call and required to report to work as needed.
Job Summary
Reporting to Facilities Management Campus, the Master Plumber Senior transfers Master’s Plumber’s License to employer for permit purposes and is charged with pulling authorized permits for plumbing work performed for Facilities Management – Campus buildings and facilities; Leads in providing technical guidance and training, and tracks corrective and preventative maintenance tasks assigned to apprentices and journeymen plumbers coordination with supervision and training; Performs installations, maintenance, and repairs in UK Campus facilities applicable to projects, plumbing systems, and plumbing equipment:
During construction/renovation, designs and installs gas, water, steam, and sanitary fixtures and equipment with their supports, hangers, or foundations; and tests new equipment and systems by allowing water to flow through; Assesses projects and gathers necessary permits; Implements design and oversees preparation and installation of plumbing components and fixtures, including toilets, urinals, faucets, hose bibs, drains, etc., Runs piping; pulls and mounts equipment; Installs, maintains, repairs and replaces domestic hot and cold water lines; steam to hot water exchangers for major building heating systems and pools; pneumatic steam valves, radiator valves, traps, and steam and condensate pipes; Repairs and replaces domestic hot water heat pumps, chilled water pumps, sump pumps, and sewage pumps; Installs, tests, and repairs all sizes of backflow prevention devices; Terminates water and sewer circuits; starts up; and checks out equipment; Repairs, replaces, and/or maintains older, pre-existing plumbing systems and equipment; Leads others in troubleshooting efforts and repairs; Diagnoses problems and applies critical thinking in the process of repairing or remedying the issue(s); Analyzes and solves problems with various plumbing; steam, water, and gas distribution systems; Interprets schematics, prints, and oral instructions for plumbing applications; and creates or provides plans for subcontractor work; Interprets plumbing and mechanical situations to determine process failure, process need, and process improvement; Researches catalogs and vendor services for complex and/or customized system retrofits; and Performs preventative maintenance in accordance with methods and procedures to eliminate operating problems and improve outcomes.

MS Windows/Office; KRONOS; and SAP.

Preferred Education/Experience
High School / GED + 8 Years
Associate’s Degree / Technical Diploma + 6 Years — Preferred.
Minimum of five years’ experience in performing the full range of tasks associate with the repair, replacement, or construction of piping systems in the plumbing trade; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid Master Plumber’s License issued under the authority of the State of Kentucky.
Valid Driver’s License preferred.
