  • One (1) week each month:
    • Sunday-Wednesday; 8:00am-4:30pm.

  • One (1) week every other month:
    • Monday-Friday; 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Participates in the on-call program for before/after operating hours and weekends.
Salary Salary is commensurate based on qualifications and relevant experience up to $40,800.

Job Summary
The Maintenance Worker II provides sub-journeyman work in the performance of a variety of maintenance and repair, tasks in one or more craft areas. Responsible for make ready duties in apartments & residence halls, maintenance and repair work of painting, carpentry (countertops, doors, framing, drywall), furniture & equipment moving, light plumbing, basic appliance repair/installation, and light electrical. Position requires the ability to work effectively with others and in a team environment as well as independently when needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs multi-family housing & make ready duties including:
    • sheet rock replacement and repair, plumbing, painting, appliance repair (removal and install), light carpentry, cabinetry, ceramic tile repair, counter tops, flooring repair including (vinyl tile & plank), wall texture, door & hardware (installation and repair).

  • Assists journeyman & carpenters in major repair, maintenance, or construction projects.
  • Provides quality customer service and ensures a comfortable living environment for students in University Housing.
  • Performs emergency mechanical repairs until journeyman or supervisory personnel arrive.
  • Serves as essential personnel to the University and is required to report to work during campus emergencies and/or closures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Drives a UTA vehicle.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of experience in construction, maintenance and/or repair work.
  • This position requires a Texas Class “C” Operator’s Driver’s License and three (3) years of acceptable driving history.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in preforming a variety of sub-journeyman maintenance and repair tasks.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to effectively execute oral and written instruction.
  • Ability to complete all physical tasks as needed.
