Scope of Job | To provide patient care/imaging services and technical skills operating magnetic resonance imaging equipment (MRI) and Computerized Tomography (CT) equipment for imaging studies. |
Description of Duties |

Supervision Received | General supervision from assigned supervisor. |
Supervision Given | Direct supervision of assigned staff. |
Required Education | Associate degree from an accredited university or successful completion of an accredited program of study in MRI and CT. |
Preferred Education | Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Bilingual in English and Spanish. |
Licenses/Certifications | Current License in State of Texas as MRI and CT technologist and American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS). Preferred: Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT). |
Required Experience | One (1) year of experience performing MRI or CT services. |
Preferred Experience | None. |
Equipment | Use of standard office equipment. Knowledge of the operations of both MRI and CT Machines. |
Working Conditions | Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office/Clinic Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. UTRGV is a distributed institution, which requires presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. |
Other | Knowledge of health care laws and regulations. Ability to provide patient care, to prepare and maintain health records. Tact, diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality of medical information required in all matters. IV skills and patient care before, during and after the imaging. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of staff and physicians. Good written and verbal communication skills. Requires reasoning ability and good independent judgment. |
