Position Overview
Responsible for supporting undergraduate laboratory courses in introductory physics by setting up laboratory equipment and maintaining supplies and inventories. Responsible for maintaining and updating lab materials. In addition, responsible for the training of department personnel on techniques, some common equipment and for coordinating departmental safety.
Duties and Responsibilities
For each introductory laboratory course coordinate the recruiting, hiring and training of undergraduate teaching assistants along with set-up and experiment preparation. Attend weekly meetings with faculty and teaching assistants for each laboratory course. Oversee safety procedures in teaching labs. Oversee, maintain, and requisition supplies and equipment for the teaching laboratories. Coordinate lab safety and safety training for all departmental personnel.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
M.S. Degree or equivalent laboratory experience and managerial skills required. Requires interaction with faculty, graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants, other staff members and undergraduate students.
