This position will support the Dermatology Cutaneous Surgery and Oncology unit, located in Ann Arbor.

  • Embed, section and stain frozen sections for Mohs histology laboratory for microscopic evaluation by physician.
  • Assist in setup, breakdown, and maintaining Mohs laboratory.
  • Maintain supply inventory for Mohs laboratory.
  • Review phone screen schedule to verify that slides have been requested for phone screening.
  • Submit slides from referring physicians for official UofM reading. Maintain database log for outside slides.
  • Bachelor?s degree in chemistry, biology or other related science field or an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience.
  • Graduation from a histotechnologist (HTL) program
  • Manual dexterity.
  • HT (ASCP) certification or equivalent registry
  • Prior histotechnology experience
  • Reasonable experience in chemistry or biology, knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in a laboratory

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
