Job Description Summary

The Graduate Assistant for Student Success is a position in the Division of Student Affairs working directly with the Chief Officer, Student Success and Academic Engagement and Associate Vice President’s Office under shared supervision.


Job Description

Duties and Tasks:

  • Work directly with the Chief Officer, Student Success and Academic Engagement and Associate Vice President’s Office to contribute to, manage, and assist with a wide variety of tasks including data analytics, event planning and operations; problem solving; role modeling for and coordinating the activities for students; marketing; technology use; and other duties as assigned
  • Assist the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs with oversight and supervision of the Division of Student Affairs student assistant training program.
  • Provide reports and analyze data sets for the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Assist with retention efforts, call campaigns, and text message outreach efforts.
  • Serve as one of the Division of Student Affairs website editors and correspond with website administrators for the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Leverage digital technologies ethically and efficiently to solve problems, complete tasks, and accomplish goals.
  • Use skills developed to increase marketing reach and professionalism.
  • Build collaborative relationships with others of diverse backgrounds and abilities, work within a team structure, negotiate and manage conflict.
  • Exercise sound reasoning and analytical thinking; use knowledge, facts, and data to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Articulate thoughts and ideas clearly and effectively in written and oral forms. Express ideas professionally to others. Use effective communication in marketing, fundraising, and other tasks.
  • Participate in University functions, events, committees, etc. as appropriate.
  • Provide oversite and support to several email accounts.
  • Create marketing materials for social media, events, and divisional departments.
  • Represent the institution at internal and external events, as appropriate.
  • Assist in day-to-day office operations for the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Officer, Student Success and Academic Engagement and Associate Vice President’s Office, or designee.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge:

  • Ability to learn, digest and apply knowledge of FERPA, Title IX, Clery Act, and Campus Save Act (including VAWA – Violence Against Women’s Act)
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development of creative and innovative programs and services
  • Knowledge and appreciation for diverse populations of students with evidence of a commitment to social justice and inclusion
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Canva.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Catholic Benedictine values and the values of Saint Leo University

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree from regionally accredited institution.

Full time enrollment in a Saint Leo University graduate degree program
