Work as a member of a team to collect data on stream conditions in the Bull Creek watershed of Columbus, GA.  Work will be conducted outside in local streams that must be accessed by traversing steep embankments.  Lab work will involve sorting through samples and identifying macroinvertebrates as part of a team of researchers. 

 



Duties and responsibilities include overseeing field work by organizing and preparing field gear and paperwork, managing undergraduate students during field work, overseeing sample preservation, storage, and processing.  Duties also include identifying and enumerating macroinvertebrate taxa to species. 

 



B.S. in Biology or Environmental Science

Preferred Qualifications (Optional)

Experience doing freshwater ecology and identifying macroinvertebrates.


 

 


The salary is commensurate with education and experience. This position can work up to 19 hours per week.

Physical Requirements

Successful applicants will be expected to work in hot humid weather, rain, and cold weather. Applicants will need to be able to carry 40 pounds up and down steep stream embankments, walk up and down streams, handle insects, and process woody debris by hand.
